Soon after the initial launch of Windows 10, Microsoft took the decision to make the new operating system available as a free upgrade for anyone running legal copies of Windows 7 or later.
This free upgrade offer is coming to an end on July 29th, which means after that date if you wish to upgrade you will need to purchase a full copy of Windows 10 or a new device that comes with it.
As previously advised, we have supported Windows 10 for some time now and our anti-virus and monitoring solutions are fully Windows 10 compatible.
So if you would like to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10 on your devices, that is entirely up to you. If your device is eligible for the upgrade you should have a small white Windows logo in your system tray at the bottom right hand side of your screen that you can click on and follow an upgrade wizard.
There are no real technical reasons to upgrade and Windows 7 and 8.1 will continue to be supported operating systems by Microsoft until January 2020 and January 2023 respectively.
If you do decide to upgrade please consider the following:
Is this your decision to make or do you need to refer to your line manager for approval
Is all the software you use day to day compatible and supported on Windows 10
The time the upgrade will take, which in some cases can be several hours
Should you run into any issues with the upgrade process either during or after, we will of course do our best to provide basic help but should it be necessary to roll back the upgrade or re-install the PC from scratch this would be a chargeable support incident
