When using social media services such as Facebook for example, you may have seen “fun” surveys appear in your timeline. Often linked to by other friends in your social network.
These may contain questions like, what was your first pets name, your mother’s maiden name, football team you support, your first school, favourite colour, first car etc.
Now whilst these may seem harmless enough, do you recognise some of them? These are often the sort of questions online banking and such like ask to help identify you when you login or call them.
They can also be used to help “guess” passwords you may use.
Cyber Criminals continue to get more and more creative on how they obtain information on individuals, so please be mindful when completing any of these surveys of the information you may be providing and how when put together (possibly over several different surveys) it could be used.
